MPEJ terms alleged land grabbing by Forest Minister a non-issue | Demands action against encroachers | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 10: Forest Minister Bali Bhagat's alleged grabbing of land at Bhawani Nagar Janipur, Jammu is being highlighted by some politicians and some disgruntled forest land grabbers, said member of Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice (MPEJ) Kuldeep Kumar Rao. He said, however, these people conveniently forgot that almost the entire Janipur stands on State land and thousands of families have settled there after paying the cost of the land to some land bearers who were most probably acting with the connivance of some politicians otherwise how could anyone dare to sell or purchase the state land. During these early days Bhagat's family also purchased one piece of land which now stands divided among other family members. Government's policy is to get forest land vacated from the grabber which is really a case of forest land grabbing. Then why a non- issue (Bhagat's alleged land grabbing) should be made, an issue?, Rao pointed out while adding that what were the previous governments doing when on this state land a new "Basti" was gradually coming up? The drive against forest land grabbers should not be opposed and the image of the Minister should not be wrongly tarnished, he urged. |
