Dr Sushil awarded Mahatma Gandhi Seva Medal | | | JAMMU, Sept 10: In recognition of his services in the field of medical sciences, Jammu and Kashmir Branch of Gandhi Global Family today awarded Dr. Sushil Sharma, Head of the Department of Cardiology in Government Medical College (GMC) and super-speciality hospital, Jammu. According to press release, in a glittering ceremony held in the premises of Hotel Ashok, Dr. Sushil was presented with Mahatma Gandhi Seva Medal by Director United Nations Information Center (UNIC) for India and Bhutan Kiran Mehra kerpelman. She applauded the services of Dr. Sushil towards the society and said that she was amazed to listen to the kind of services which Dr. Sushil has been rendering towards the society as a whole. She further said that Dr. Sushil could be role model for various upcoming and bright doctors of the state. She further gave a detailed account of the functioning of UNIC. Dr. Sushil hailed Gandhi Global Family for bestowing him with an award and said that awards and rewards should not be the ultimate aim of doctors but the focus should be on improving healthcare facilities and ensuring patients get all the required attention. He said that as a cardiologist, he has been trying desperately to create such an environment where mortality and morbidity due to cardiac diseases becomes a rarity. He further said that Jammu and Kashmir requires advanced facilities for cardiac healthcare. "Day is not far when cardiac diseases would cease to be called life threatening ones. I am longing to see the day when cardiology touches new heights and life could be prolonged without much need for intervention," he added. |
