| MC conducts market checking drive | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Sept 10: Municipal Committee Udhampur (MC-U) today conducted surprise market chacking in meat/mutton market and warned the traders not to sale meat and mutton kept in open and under unhygienic conditions. According to spokesperson MCU, the authorities concerned have issued an order some days back directing the meat traders to lift their boxes for poultry from roadside and keep their outlets clean. "The order came in the back drop of complaints from locals alleging therein that meat traders have made the street a illegal 'slaughter house' and it becomes difficult for people to walk through road due to stink of blood and waste of killed animals. Besides directing shopkeepers to maintain area clean, the MC -U has asked them to avoid slaughtering of birds in open, statement said. Municipal Sanitary Inspector said during the drive the shopkeepers assured that they would not place poultry cages outside or on the road when the enforcement team tried to seize the boxes.
