CEO convenes all party meet

Srinagar, Sept 10: The Election Commission of India has announced schedule for special revision of electoral rolls in Jammu and Kashmir from January, 2016 as the qualifying date.
According to press release, while announcing the schedule at an all party meeting, the CEO (Chief Electoral Officer) J&K, Shantmanu said that the election office has been re-energized aiming at inclusion of more numbers of youth in the democratic process. "We have put our officials in an active mode and the youth who will attain the age of 18 years by or before 1st January 2016 shall be included in the electoral rolls, and the left over persons are also being included in this special summary revision," Shantmanu informed various party representatives.
The CEO also issued the schedule of revision for the entire process which is to be completed by January 2016.
According to the schedule the draft of electoral rolls will be published on 15-09-2015. The period for filing of claims and objections will be from 15-09-2015 to 14-10-2015. Reading of relevant part/section of photo electoral rolls in Gram Sabha/local bodies and RWA meetings etc and verification of names will be from 16-09-2015 to 30-09-2015.
The special campaign dates with Booth Level Agents (BLA) of political parties for receiving claims and objections will be on 20-09-2015 and 04-10-2015. Final publication of electoral rolls will be on 11-01-2016.
All recognized political parties (National and State Level) were requested to appoint a BLA for each polling booth who would be associated with the special campaign for roll revision process on special campaign dates along with Booth Level Officers (BLO). "On these special campaign dates, the BLO will go through the draft electoral roll along with BLAs of recognized political parties of the State and identify corrections, modification and deletions" said Mr Shantmanu.
The CEO sought cooperation from all political parties and general public and requested them to massively participate in the process to make it a success.
Various forms meant for deletion, addition and modification of names in the electoral rolls have also been made available at the official website of CEO, J&K www.ceojk.nic.in and Election Commission of India website www.eci.nic.in.
