Congress condemns levying of service tax on 'Vaishno Devi Heli Service'

Udhampur, Sept 10: Expressing concerns over levying 12.5 % service tax on heli service to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, the Congress has today condemned the state government's decision terming to hurt sentiments of particular community and adding burden to devotees who visit the holy shrine.
Senior Congress leader and Working District President Congress Udhampur, Anil Pachiala in a press statement today while expressing concerns over the recent decision of state government for imposing service-tax on the chopper services at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine said it was just 'jazia' which once was imposed to segregate social fabric on religion basis.
Congress leader demanded immediate roll-back of the decision terming it as against the religious sentiments of the particular community across the world. He however warned state government to desist from taking such decisions as it can create unwarranted atmosphere in the State.
Col Mahata, Ashok Chandel, Kuldeep Puri and Bansi Lal Bucha also were the signatories of the press statement.
