Early Times Report

Rajouri, Sept 10: On hand state government initiates to facilitate access of poor students to top-quality education with the launch of Chief Minister's Model School Scheme by Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Basholi of Kathua on the other hand quality education in government schools becomes a million dollar question with failure of 7th and 8th class) to solve the simple problems like 2+2=? In Rajouri district. During his surprise visits to government schools in Rajouri and Poonch district, Education Minister Naeem Akhter found very poor academics in most of the schools in Rajouri district Despite the fact that government has appointed highly qualified teachers/masters in the government school , the casual approach , carelessness , insincerity on part of the teachers have degraded the standard of education in the government schools. What would be the future of the students studying in the government schools when they (students of 7th and 8th class) can't solve the simple problems like 2+2=?. Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri, Chowdhry Altaf Hussain today paid surprise visit to Government High School at Patrara and Government Middle School at Chowran (in Sunderbani education zone) and during interaction with the students/teachers he found the academic side in both the schools very unsatisfactory.
"Students of 8th class at middle when asked to solve 2=2=? They can't solve the sum. At high school the academic side was also very below the average. Teachers don't have any academic dairies. Their casual approach insincerity and non-seriousness towards their duties has shocked me" said CEO. Concerned Zonal Education officer (ZEO) has been directed to stop the salaries of all the staff members of middle school while staff of government high school has been directed to improve their academic standards within next one month, otherwise after second inspection their salaries will also be stopped if the academic side was not found satisfactory. "Highly qualified staff has been provided at these schools but the approach of the teachers towards their official duties was found very poor, below average and unsatisfactory. One head master 5 masters and 5 teachers were appointed for about 90 students in the high school and the academic performance of the students was found below average," said CEO. Seven members staff at middle school has been directed to approach the CEO after they feel that they have improved the academic side and only after satisfactory report their salaries would be released. Earlier the students of 7th and 8th from Government Boys Middle School failed to solve a simple problems when out of 45 only 3 students managed to solve simple sums of adding and subtraction including 2+2=?.
