Jammu, Sept 10: The Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department in Doda district is in shambles as corrupt officials are managing the affairs. The department is led by an Additional Director (AD) who along with his close associates are running the show and are allegedly allowing embezzlement in distribution of ration and other things, according to local residents. They said these corrupt officials are in league with LPG distributors who are selling cooking gas on inflated rates. "The AD has, in his previous posting, indulged in unfair means. Now when he is the incharge CAPD Department in the district, only corrupt officials are revolving around him," official sources said. "The biggest scam of CAPD in the district is related to distribution of kerosene oil, LPG distribution and allotment of BPL and AAY ration cards. Instead of providing kerosene to consumers, it is being supplied to heavy motor vehicle owners on higher rates," the sources said. They said the higher officials "are aware of his misdeeds. There are few complaints pending against the AD with the directorate of CAPD but so far no action has been taken." The AD allegedly enjoys political patronage, hence no one dares to take him to task.
