Jammu, Sept 10: Gundana now is a tehsil but the much needed development has not taken place. There are no schools, no roads and drains.
Rayees Ahmed, a resident of Gundana said that 40 kilometres away from district headquarter Doda, the newly created administrative unit Gundana which is getting a tehsil status but the development is still elusive.
On account of Road development, the tehsil has connected link road Doda to Gundana. It was constructed by Public Works Department in the year 2009, but the black topping was done only on papers.
Eight kilometre road stretch from Patana to Gundana where people are yet to get compensation of land, fruit trees which were felled during road construction", Ahmed said, adding that maximum six months of a year the road was closed.
On the account of School's development, Government Higher Secondary Gundana is the only school that was upgraded in the year 2009. The school has 14 lecturers, five masters and a principal post sanctioned but at present two lecturers and two masters manning the school.
The school has two building blocks having four rooms two for classes one for staff and one for lab, though this year more than 800 students enrolled from class 9th -12th but was dumped in two rooms.
State government has sanctioned a grid station to Gunadna and it was completed in the year 2012 but still the station was not functional reason best known to higher authorities. At present Gundana Tehsil are running without Tehsildar, Naib- Tehsildar besides Patwari are also missing for a year. Gundana has Zonal Education Office and Block Development Office but the education office is functioning in another tehsil and BDO office are running in district headquarters, so what we can do the status of Tehsil if the people of 18 panchyats suffers same problem when the status was not given.
They further said that in February, 2015 a delegation of around 15 peoples called to Governor NN Vohra regarding such issues and also submit memorandum but all in vain, till date no action will be taken at the end of government.
They urged upon Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed to personally intervene in this matter and directed district administration to fulfil all the vacant posts and also direct to run various administrative offices in tehsil Gundana, so that people of far flung tehsil would not suffer more.
