| LMD Udhampur books diagnostic labs for overcharging dengue tests | | | Early Times Report
udhampur, Oct 1: On the instruction of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, a team of Legal Metrology headed by Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Jaideep Singh Sambyal inspected various diagnostic labs in the town here today.
The inspection was conducted to enforce the government prescribed rates for dengue tests viz ELISA (NSI) for Rs. 600, IgM for Rs. 630 and IgG for Rs. 630. During the inspection it was found that two diagnostic labs namely Thyrocare and Dr. Lal Path Labs were over charging the patients for the test of dengue at Udhampur. Further, the inspector Legal Metrology issued seizure memos to the franchise of the above said labs for offense of overcharging and were directed to not to indulge in anti consumer activities.
The team also visited various other diagnostic labs and instructed them to adhere with the government approved rates. During the inspection the teams also made aware the general public about their rights and called upon them to register genuine complaints with the department for safeguarding their rights as per J&K Consumer Protection Act 1987. |
