| HC directs VOJ to file fresh status report | | PIL regarding MNERGA scam | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 1:In a PIL regarding issuance of job card to government employees, students, including minors and dead persons under MNREGA scheme in connivance with revenue officials, a high court division bench of Justice Hasnain Massodi and Justice B S Walia today directed Vigilance Organisation, Jammu, (VOJ) to file fresh status report of investigation.
Under this scheme adult of every household has the right to job card. While ss per the MNREGA scheme only adult members are guaranteed 100 days manual work to check unemployment in rural areas, taking undue advantage of their positions, the official respondents had allegedly made gross abuse of the process of law by issuing job cards to those who were not eligible under a conspiracy with sarpanchs and panchs and drawn lakhs of rupees on illegal job cards.
The bench observed that the latest status report would indicate that significant progress had been made in investigating the matter, however, having regard to the nature and extent of alleged scam, some more time is required by the Investigating Agency to conclude the investigation and directed VOJ to file fresh status of investigation.
