‘Militants may strike in Jammu during festive season’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 7: The intelligence agencies have warned of selective target killings by militants in the Jammu region as part of their plan to stoke communal tension in the state. The agencies have warned that these attacks may coincide with the festival season which is starting in few days. According to the sources, the intelligence agencies have got specific inputs that terrorists are planning a major strike in the Jammu during religious festival season. The aim to create communal tension and put the BJP in a black spot. The coming festival season will be the first time that the BJP will be in power in the State and is seen as responsible for the security and the interests of the Jammu region. "The terrorists and their handlers across the border are planning such attacks in sheer desperation. They are making plans for long with the sole aim of discrediting the BJP in the J&K, which itself has wider ramifications politically," said an intelligence officer. Sources said attempts are being made to send terrorists not from the usual J&K borders but from the other parts of the country by first getting them crossed into India from either neighbouring countries. "Some Kashmiri youth have been picked up in the past in some parts of the country. Six Kashmiri youth have been picked up in Bihar with cash while coming from neighbouring Nepal. So it all points to the direction in which planning is going on," said the official. It's in this background that union home secretary and former DGP, who is now in the home ministry, Ashok Prasad have arrived in the J&K. "The home ministry has sent a clear message that such attacks should be foiled at the first go. The government must go all out against all subversive activities and foil their design,: said the official. |
