Leave for London, ask their staff to answer queries raised by legislators | 2 Ministers prefer foreign trip over LA session | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 7: Ministers seem least bothered about State facing financial crunch and are busy in reaping the fruits of power. Two top Ministers who should have been present in the Assembly to attend the Autumn session reportedly left for London earlier this week. Sources told Early Times that two Ministers holding important portfolios without caring about the Assembly session left for a foreign trip the expenses of which, according to the sources, would be borne by the State exchequer. "There are many questions pertaining to the ministries of both the mantris which need to be answered. Both the Ministers have asked their staff members to reply to the queries raised by the legislators," sources added. They said, both the Ministers have directed their staff not to answer the controversial questions and remain silent over the crucial issues. "It seems opposition has not taken the note of the absence of two top Ministers in the House," said a politician. He said that Ministers should have delayed their trip to London for one week and stayed back till the Assembly session would have been over. "It seems new Ministers want to leave no opportunity to utilize the benefits of power. They are in hurry and want to enjoy all the privileges and the benefits they are entitled to," the politician added. He said that opposition should raise the issue of absence of two important Ministers in the House so that in future none of the Ministers take the Assembly session lightly. Sources said that since the day PDP-BJP coalition has taken over the reins of power, Ministers without caring about the financial mess that State is facing have taken up many leisure trips. "It's unfortunate that the expenses of the private trips, which are undertaken by the Ministers and their families, are borne by the State exchequer and such leisure trips seem to have become unending exercises," they added. Insiders revealed that in the absence of the two top Ministers has put their staff in a tight spot. "Staff members are only preparing replies of non-controversial questions," they added. A senior leader of the ruling party defended the decision of his colleagues to undertake the foreign trip. "The ongoing Assembly session is brief. Opposition has already wasted three days and no serious discussion has taken place during these days. It is good they (Ministers) left for London. Had they stayed here they would have acted as mute spectators as House has turned into a Circus," he said. Asked is trip to London an official assignment he said, "I am not aware whether it's an official or a private trip. Media should focus on other issues rather than checking who is absent and present in the House." Sources said that Ministers, who left for London this week, kept their foreign trip a closely guarded secret till the last moment. "It's news for me that two Ministers holding important portfolios have left for London amid ongoing Assembly session. Let me check then I will get back to you," said one of the senior Ministers. |
