Omar Abdullah’s latest concern: why's there less rice on wazwan trami? | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 7: National Conference president and former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, is these days concerned over the diminishing quantity of rice on the wazwan trami (copper plate) at marriages in Kashmir. Though it sounds hilarious, this is the latest concern of Omar. "Try and spot the rice under the meat). A traditional wazwan served on a Trami with the waza serving more meat," Omar posted on Twitter on Tuesday night while attending the baraat of his party colleague and spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu who tied the nuptial knot at Nigeen Club. Omar's tweet drew instant response from his online 'followers' with many of them taking a dig at the former Chief Minister. "@abdullah_omar itnay buray din. Matlab kuch bhi post karogay," posted one Ibn #Kashmir from Twitter handler ?@letme_think. On finding his boss cornered, Omar's Political Secretary Tanvir Sadiq who was also present at the baraat, came to his rescue and tried to divert the attention of the people on Twitter. Tanvir, who is often accused of copying Omar on everything including hair-style, at once posted another picture from the same function, where nothing but only mutton was visible on the trami. "Here it is," Tanvir posted with the picture of his trami. Though Tanvir and Omar were present in the same hall, instead of talking to each other, they preferred Twitter as the means of communication, which public was watching. "This is the height that instead of talking to each other you people are wasting precious internet bandwidth to relish the Wazwan and discuss content of rice on Trami," posted Sameer Ahmed, a businessman. In the meantime, as scores of hate posts started pouring in, Tanvir apparently trying to douse to fire, as per his 'followers', posted a Tweet that he was also getting married in the coming months but that at his marriage "I will keep less non veg on Trami." "But following another spell of criticism, Tanvir this afternoon had to delete his post pertaining to his prospective marriage plans," said a senior official who was watching this all. Omar's passion for Twitter is respected so much by the young lot in his party that all of them ensure their presence on the micro-blogging website Twitter. From former IT minister Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, to new entrants like Sara Hayat, almost all the young leaders in National Conference keep twitting anything like their boss does. Omar's tweets have often drawn flak from senior party leaders who accuse him of having ruined the "traditional discipline and patience which the leadership would otherwise known for." "In the past, the leader of this party would comment only when needed but now our party leader comments on everything trivial that too through internet when world gets to know about it," said a party leader pleading anonymity. |
