RBI holds inter-school quiz competition

Jammu, Oct 7: With an aim to create awareness among the students about financial education, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today organized an inter-school quiz competition at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
384 teams hailing from 192 schools of Jammu region participated in the competition, out of which, 6 teams qualified for final round of the quiz competition. Sumit and Amitesh from Army Public School, Kaluchak emerged as the winners of the quiz competition while as Shivansh and Snehil of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Gandhi Nagar clinched second spot in a tie-breaker.
Subrat and Hasit, students of Jodhamal Public School secured the third position. Yashorma and Abhey from Dreamland Public School, Visha and Abhinav from Army Public School, Damana; and Kanhaiya and Ashutosh from Government Higher Secondary School, Vijaypur secured the 4th, 5th and 6th spots respectively.
The winners were given SBI Debit card with Rs. 2,500 each having validity of 10 years. The runners-up got Rs. 1,500 each while as the other finalists got Rs. 1,000 each as prize money.
Joint Director Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan Mohammad Iqbal was the chief guest on the occasion. Regional Director RBI, Jammu and Kashmir D Sethy, CEO Samba O P Bhagat, DEPO Samba Jagdish Sharma, Manager RBI Dinesh Gupta and other officers of the Education department were also present on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, Sethy said that RBI organizes such competitions to create awareness among the people about the facilities being provided by the bank. He stressed that financial education helps in checking frauds.
He further informed that the winners of this competition will participate in the national level quiz competition being organized by RBI and winners will be felicitated by the Governor of RBI, Raghuram Rajan.
Joint Director Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan Mohammad Iqbal, in his address, said that efforts will be made to organize such programmes at district level as these competitions help the students in preparing for competitive exams as well as enhances their mental ability. Quiz Master Dr. Ashish Tripathi conducted the quiz.
