Samba, Oct 7: District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda today inaugurated a Road Safety Awareness Programme organised by Motor Vehicle Department Samba in collaboration with Adarsh Vidya Peeth Higher Secondary School Samba. On this occasion, SSP Samba Joginder Singh KPS, ARTO Samba Kuldeep Singh, Principal Adarsh VidyaPeeth Anupam Sambyal and 400 students were present. A symposium was organised in which students from various classes participated and highlighted the importance of safe driving, and do's and don'ts while driving and crossing roads. An open house Question and Answer session was organised, in which students put forth their queries regarding rules, regulations , License, Registration and other motor vehicle norms. Also, various films regarding Road Safety for drivers/ pedestrians, causes of road accidents and precautions regarding boarding, de-boarding, blind spots, danger zone of school bus were shown to children. The ARTO Samba appealed all to wear crash helmets and seat belts while driving and learn from good driving school. He stressed on the need for sensitization among drivers and young generation regarding traffic rules, regulations and safe driving habits. He informed all that around 1.5 lacs /year casualties occur in our country due to road accidents and human error is reason behind 80% of the cases. He further said that the prime three factors -education, engineering and enforcement can prevent road accidents. He also informed that MVD Samba has compounded fine amounting to Rs 6.92 lacs last month. He assured DDC samba that similar programmes will be held across the district. |
