Bad condition of roads irk villagers 11/17/2015 11:19:36 PM Early Times Report Rajouri, Nov 17: Continuing hold protest against deplorable condition of roads at Kotrankafor the last many months , inhabitants of Kotrnaka, Mandargala, Samote, Budhal and other areas held protest demonstrations against the GREF authorities for their failure to repair/ blacktopping the Rajouri-Budhal road for which the construction work was started about 5 years ago. Locals stated that initially the road was to be completed within three years but many hurdles including encroachment by the people at different places and snow fall at higher reaches have delayed the completion of the work. Only few kilometers could be black topped during these five years and the remaining portion of the road is in very bad shape and owners of light vehicles have been forced to abandon their vehicles due to bumpy and pothole filled road at many places. Sukhpal Singh SDM, Kotranka pacified the people assuring them that soon the black topping of the road would be started by the GREF authorities as promised by them and by the end of this financial year the black topping of Rajouri-Kotraka road would be completed. "If the work was not taken up soon by the GREF, a suitable action under law would be taken against them as already a show cause notice has been served to them" said SDM, while talking to reporters. The work to make about 60 kilometer road double lane was started in the year 2010 and all the widening, cutting and construction of retain walls have been completed while the work for leveling, carpeting, black topping etc have also been allotted to the contractors.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
