Muneer Khan tipped to head Vigilance | Cabinet to meet on Thursday; reshuffle in civil, police admn on cards | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 17: The state cabinet is meeting on Thursday in Civil Secretariat Jammu for a reshuffle in the civil and police administration. The cabinet will meet at 11 am under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during which transfers and postings in civil and police administration will be on top of the agenda, sources told Early Times. Muneer Khan, who is posted as IGP Crime, is being tipped to head Vigilance Organization, which is headless from last four months following the retirement of the Sheikh Owais. It was also learnt that some non-performing officers would be attached to General Administration Department. Sources said the list of performing and non-performing officers was prepared on Tuesday in GAD in consultation with the CM's Secretariat. Sources said the list of deadwood government officials is also likely to be discussed in the cabinet meeting. Sources said that the cabinet, keeping in view the dilapidated condition of the healthcare system in the state, is expected to direct the Health Department to identify land for setting up a medical university in the state. The cabinet would also finalize the areas identified for the upcoming All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Kashmir and Jammu regions. For AIIMS in Jammu, sources said four sites have been identified, while in Kashmira piece of land in Awantipora has been identified for setting up the AIIMS. |
