CM Mehbooba? BJP core group to take final call | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Nov 17: Ruling PDP's coalition partner BJP is yet to take any decision on whether to accept Mehbooba Mufti as Chief Minister if her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed decides to step down, a senior BJP leader said today. General secretary of BJP's State unit Ashok Koul said the party's core group is only authorized to take any decision on the issue. "The party leadership will sit together in next few days and later a final decision will be taken after discussion in the BJP's core group meeting. The elected representatives would be taken into confidence before taking any decision," Koul told Early Times. On whether 'non-performing' BJP Ministers would be dropped from the cabinet as some reports suggest, Koul said the party has never said that any BJP Minister is not performing. "In fact every BJP Minister is performing well. The Government is only 9 months old and we haven't thought about it so far, though sometimes need arises for changing portfolios of Ministers. But as of now even that proposal is not under discussion," he said. Reacting to the statement of DGP K Rajendra Kumar that police did not find any trace of ISIS ideology in Kashmir Valley even though ISIS flags are being waved regularly there, the BJP leader said the police chief has a lot of resources available with him and he must be aware of the things. He said the BJP is committed to act against anti-national elements. "Our stand is clear: we will not allow any anti-India and anti-Jammu and Kashmir activity," said Koul. In response to a question about growing resentment among the flood victims of the State, Koul blamed National Conference and the Congress for "spreading false propaganda". He said the people were happy when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a Rs 80,000 crore package in Srinagar on November 7. "PM Modi said that hearts and treasurers of Delhi will always remain open for the people of J&K," he said and slammed NC and the Congress who he said were the parties against development. |
