Police foils major bovine smuggling bid, four held, 34 animals rescued | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Nov 17: In a major achievement Rajouri police under the supervision of Rajeshwar Singh, SSP have recovered 34 bovine animals from the clutches of Kashmir bounded four bovine smugglers who were also arrested by the police. Police have identified the accused as Sarju Din s/o Abdul Amin of Siot (Dharamsal), Abdul Gafoor s/o Mohd Sharief of Lah (Thanamandi), Mohd Bilal s/o Mohd Razaq of Gurdhan (Rajouri) and Mohd Mushtaq s/o Chandi Gujjar of village Lah (Thanamandi). Police spokesperson said that as a part of drive against menace of bovine smuggling inspector Chaman Gorkha,SHO Rajouri under the guidance of Hamid Chwdhry Deputy SP , HQs laid several police checking points/nakas at different place around Rajouri city on the intervening night of November 16/17. "During checking on Jammu-Poonch highway, the naka teams seized four Tata Mobiles vehicles bearing registration Nos. JK02AM-8406, JK11A-0370, JK02AD-1672 and JK11A-1398 and rescued 23 bovine animals which were taken to Kashmir Valley via Mughal road without any proper permission/document, he said. He added that Police team has seized the vehicles along with animals and also arrested three smugglers namely Sarju Din, Abdul Gafoor and Mohd Bilal on the spot. "The accused have been booked in case FIR Nos.574/2015, 575/2015, 576/2015, 577/2015 and 578/2015 u/s 188 RPC, 3 PCA at Police Station Rajouri and further investigations are on in this regard. Yet in another similar bid foiled in Kandi of Rajouri, police team led by Jhangir Ahmed, SHO Kandi police station rescued 11 bovine animals being taken to Valley on feet by a smuggler identified as Mohd Mushtaq s/o Chandi Gujjar of village Lah (Thanamandi). Police said, "The bovine smuggler was intercepted near Badhal Bridge when he was on its way from Treru to Budhal-Kandi via Targai-Shopian(Srinagar) and failed to produce any permission. Police have booked the smuggler and a case under FIR No. 88/2015 u/s 188 RPC, 3PCA Act stands registered against accused. Rajouri police since January this year have registered 168 cases against 231 persons and also recovered 983 bovine animals and seized 100 vehicles till November 17. |
