Army organizes 'Run for Fun' 11/17/2015 11:20:20 PM Early times Report Poonch, Nov 17: To commemorate the historic link up in 1948 "Poonch Link Up Day' was organized. It is an occasion to pay homage and commemorate the martyrs of 1947-48 Indo-Pak conflict who laid down their lives for liberating this strategically important town of Poonch. With an aim to generate awareness amongst the children and also to mark commencement of the build up to Poonch Link Up Day, a ` Run for Fun' was organized by Garhi Battalion on17 Nov 2015. This event which also celebrates the spirit of Poonch Link Up Day saw widespread & enthusiastic participation by large no of people from across the society and more than 794 highly motivated school children and youth. The Run for Fun was flagged off from Poonch Stadium by Col S Bhattacharyya at 1100 Hours and culminated at the Khanna Officers Institute (KOI) of the Army. The electrifying spirit of participants who covered the 2.7 kms of route was aweinspiring for the Poonch town and everyone came out on streets to cheer the participants. The Run for Fun was flagged in at Khanna Officers Institute (KOI) by the Col Vikas Lakhera, Sena Medal, Deputy Commander, 93 Infantry Brigade.
