Kathua, Nov 17 : The farmers and people living along the border areas in Hira Nagar are disappointed with the Prime Minister's relief package. They also criticized the BJP for its `false' promises. Gopal Ram, a farmer hailing from village Shantata at zero line said the Prime Minister ignored farmers and people hailing from border areas who are frequent victims of cross border firing. He added hundreds of persons from the areas had migrated and lived in miserable conditions. "But there is nothing for them in the Rs 80,000 Cr package," he said. He said the border victims had pinned hopes on the prime Minister. "We stand disappointed," he said. Muni Lal another farmer while expressing dismay over the package demanded special package so that farmers get relief from KCC loans. He said the people expected 50% subsidy on KCC, 5 marlas plot for firing affected people, compensation for damaged crops / livestock during ceasefire violations and incessant rains during previous months. He said people are fed up to false promises of BJP and decided to launch agitation against BJP. He sought relief for farmers/ public who usually migrated during cross border firing that disturb their livelihood including crops. The state and union government must come forward to help such distressed people," he said. |
