KATRA, Nov 17 : Organised by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), three-day Invitational Table Tennis Tournament for under-19 boys and girls got underway at Shrine Board Sports Complex, here today. Around 60 young players drawn from educational institutions, CRPF, SMVD University, Zorawar Club, and the Shrine Board are taking part in this competition on knock-out basis. Earlier, the event was declared open by Additional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SMVDSB, Dr M K Kumar, who was chief guest. Speaking to the gathering, he said that such a large participation was an indicator of keen interest of residents of Katra in sports. He wished the participants success and assured all possible facilities to the players from Shrine Board. Director Sports, SMVDSB , Ashok Kumar, under whose supervision the tournament is being organised appreciated the enthusiasm, spirit and high level of discipline among the participants indicates a bright future for sports in the holy town. Among others present were Rajinder Singh (OSD), Kavita Pandoh (Tehsildar Katra), Sucha Singh, Ashwani Katoch, Ajay Singh, Mohan Lal, Kuldeep Sharma (Manager Stadium) and Ghansara Singh.
