Jammu, Jan 17 : Protest sparked over a man's death in Akhnoor tehsil on city outskirts who was murdered by his helper in Sopore area of Kashmir. The family members and relatives of the deceased namely Dev Raj Sharma, son of Amaranth Sharma, resident of Akhnoor this morning blocked the road and demonstrated by keeping his body on the road demanding compensation. Des Raj's body was brought to Jammu this morning from Sopore. "The protestors were demanding compensation, which is not possibly provided in murder case," a police official said, adding that administration officials rushed to the spot and assured to frame a committee to look into the case following which the members dispersed. The deceased was living in a rented room at Bafanda complex Shalpora in Sopore and was found dead on January 15. He was attacked by the helper at his dhaba identified as Muneer Ahmad Gujjar, 20, resident of Gujarpati Zaloora. They had some argument on payment issue which led to a scuffle between the two and ultimately resulted into the murder of Dev Raj Sharma. Police cracked the case and arrested the accused. |
