'Powerful' inspectors want to be SHO Udhampur! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 17: Two days after Inspector Arjun Singh Chib vacated his post as Station House Officer Udhanmpur race for coveted post has gained momentum. Sources claimed that at least four influential inspectors are reportedly putting political pressure on senior police officers to get the coveted posting. If political sources are to be believed the inspectors have approached their political bosses to exert pressure on senior police officers of Udhampur district to get them posted as SHO Udhampur. "Two of the four Inspectors who are in fray have already served in the police station and they are trying to get the coveted post again by using the approach of a former Minister of State," said a police officer. He claimed the police station is on national highway and has got "good income." An MLC is also pressing the senior police officers to adjust an inspector close to him as SHO Udhampur. The officer claimed that reason behind the race is that scrap dealers and bovine smugglers "offer huge bounty" in lieu of their misdeeds. This is not the first instance when cops are using their political mentors for their postings. In the past also Inspector and Sub-Inspectors have used political influence to get plum postings. |
