AKHNOOR, Jan 17: Wrestler Shotu of Akhnoor lifted the 45th annual Dhara-Ardhan dangal title defeating Jnderjeet of Amritsar in Punjab in the main bout held at village Pail in tehsil Maira Maindrian and district Jammu.
Wrestler Shotu was adjusted best wrestler of this dangal and presented with a cash prize of Rs 5100 by chief guest, MLA Akhnoor, Rajeev Sharma, who was accompanied by Joint Secretary of State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Dangal was organized by Dhara-Ardhan Dangal Committee under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Runners-up Inderjeet got Rs 3,000. The prize money was given away jointly by president J&K Yuva Rajput Sabha, Surinder Singh Manhas and Jatinder Singh, president of the dangal committee.
The second main bout clinched by Devinder of Domana Akhara in Jammu beating Johnny of Amritsar while third bout won by Dharminder of Amritsar who defeated Murad Ali of Domana Akhara.
In fourth main bout, Sadiq of Domana Akhara beat Suresh of Pathankot.
In all, 67 bouts were played in the one day long dangal.
Dangal was organized under the supervision of organizing committee including Jatinder Singh Master, Surinder Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Om Parkash, Sanjay Kumar, Shalli Kumar, Mohinder Kumar, Devinder Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Surjeet Singh, Romesh Kumar, Nanak Chand, Master Prabh Dayal, Ram Lal, Surinder Singh, Faqir Singh, Kartar Chand, Ram Rattan, Kuljeet Singh, Rashpal Singh, Mohinder Singh, Prabh Dayal and Ashok Kumar.
Technical officials included Mohd. Fareed, Master Ram Kishan and Master Jatinder Singh.
The proceedings of the dangal were conducted by Mohd. Fareed, while welcome address was presented by Master Jatinder Singh, president of the dangal committee. The vote of thanks was presented by Shiv Kumar Sharma.
