Rajouri/Samba/ Udhampur / Kishtwar , Jan 17 : As part to disseminate awareness among the masses about Polio, Pulse Polio day was observed at sub district hospital at Darhal. According to press release the event was inaugurated by Hafiz Muhammad Sayeed, Imam Jamia Masjid in the presence of Dr Iqbal Malik, Block Medical Officer (BMO) and also attended by senior citizens and Health department officials. Block Medical Officer Darhal said that Director Health Services Jammu has issued strict instructions that no child from 0 to 5 years should remain without the polio drops. "Health department has constituted 132 polio booths and has deployed 528 employees including volunteers, members of NGOs, government teachers, AWW and ASHAs to cover this huge task in Darhal and Thannamandi tehsils under Darhal Health Block" said Dr Iqbal. He further said that this is a three day programme where for the first day the polio vaccination will be given from the booths and then for the next two days the teams will visit each and every house even in far flung areas of these tehsils to vaccinate the children. Meanwhile Pulse Polio day was also observed at Government District Hospital Samba. the booth was inaugurated by Dr Devinder Manyal in presence of Dr Rajeev Sharma Chief Medical Officer Samba, Dr Arun Sharma Medical Superintendent District Hospital Samba, Dr Sudarshan Katoch Block Medical Officer Samba, Dr Anju Bala Dy Chief Medical Officer Samba, Dr Sanjay Sharma District Health Officer Samba, Dr Sameer Koul District Immunisation Officer Samba, President Rotary Club Samba, other officers and officials of District Hospital Samba. Later the booth at District Hospital Samba was visited by Dr Baldev Sharma Director Family welfare and Immunization J&K. Pulse Polio Camp was held and served by Lions Club Samba, under the Presid-entship of its President lion Amardeep Singh.The camp was inaugurated by its senior most lions member H.k Gupta. The Lions club is in the service of this activity since its inception in the country and always in the fore front of community service, 351 Children in the age group of 0-5 years were administrated two drops of Pulse Polio medicine from 9 AM to 4 Pm. An Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) drive commenced at district Udhampur by administering Oral Polio vaccine to a baby in the District hospital on Sunday. Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal was the chief guest on the occasion who formally inaugurated the drive. While speaking on the occasion, Jamwal said that with the constant and sincere efforts of the functionaries of health department and massive support of the society, the pulse polio immunization drive gets under way which would cover children aged below five years. He said that campaign would cover every child below five years in next two days by the ASHA , Anganwadi workers and volunteers by visiting door to door. He said that the drive would stress the need for maintaining constant vigil on the situation and covering hundred per cent children by administering pulse polio oral drops in every round of campaign. By administering Oral Polio Vaccine to a baby at Sub District Hospital Mandi, Member Legislative Assembly Haveli, Shah Mohammad Tantray in the presence of Block Medical Officer Mandi, Dr. Shamim BhattiSunday inaugurated three-day pulse polio immunization drive while Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shafiq Ahmed Choudhary and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mumtaz Bhatti inaugurated the pulse polio immunization drive at District Hospital Poonch. Like in other parts of the state, 31214 children's aged between 0-5 years were immunized with Pulse Polio Immunization drops which 85% of the total number of children's (36880) identified across Kishtwar District. While talking to "Early Times" District Immunization Officer Kishtwar Dr. Daizy Parihar said that for immunization of 36880 children's between 0-5 years, 368 polio immunizing booths were open in Kishtwar District out of which 112 is in Kishtwar Block, 91 in Chatroo Block, 70 in Padder block and 95 in Dachhan block catering Marwah and Warwan areas as well. She said that out of 368 booths, 198 are located at difficult places for which over 70 supervisor, nearly 1450 workers have been deployed for immunization duty, beside supervisory staff, nearly 390 health workers, 185 ASHA's, over 300 Anganwari workers, 268 teachers and 378 other workers have also been deployed for making the job successful, added that after finishing today's campaign, the health department will shift its focus on door to door campaign to cover up the left out 15 % children's who fail to reach nearby polio booths. |
