Poonch roads in bad shape, R&B Deptt unmoved | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report Poonch, Jan 30: The Central and state governments may be making efforts to connect every village in the country with a road, but the roads in border district Poonch are in bad condition resulting in sufferings to local people but the concerned Road and Building Department still is unmoved. Locals complained that several main roads connecting vital areas in this frontier district are in dilapidated condition and further alleged the state department of Public Works (R&B) has been unmoved causing many troubles to the people of the district as it has failed to take care of the road. The locals further complained that during the rainy season it is quite hard to travel on the road and it needs quite an effort for even walk on it. Citing that many roads like Harni-BG, Mendhar-Surankote via Harni and other vital roads in Poonch Mandi, Kalaban, Chhattral areas are in bad condition, they lamented that these roads in bad shape are causing tremendous hardships to daily commuters as well as shopkeepers and vehicles owners in the border district. "We face problems in transporting patients," locals pin pointed and added that students also suffer because of the poor condition of the road. "The government needs to take this matter seriously as it concerns poor people of this backward and remote area and direct the department concerned to take up its maintenance immediately," they demanded. Irked over inconvenience caused by bad roads, the locals further alleged the PWD (R&B) has been active in papers only and no work of repairing of these roads has been undertaken by the department in the district. |
