Tawi railway station employees 'loot' passengers | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 1: The Railway Employees at Jammu Tawi railway station allegedly loot passengers on one pretext or the other pretext. The passengers informed Early Times that mismanagement and rude attitude of railway employees irked them a lot. "We were going to the Mata Vaishno Devi. We reached Tawi railway satiation and accordingly went to the ticket counter to book the tickets. I received ticket number 60071961 for six persons, and the lady employee at the counter asked me for 240 rupees. But I was shocked to receive only 100 hundred rupees instead of 260. When I asked her the reason she did not answer and instead directed me to leave the counter immediately," a passenger R. K Razdan said. Passengers complained that the chaos and confusion has become the daily routine at this Railway Station and the passengers can be seen wandering here and there, enquiring from tea stall owners and coolies as the staff of the enquiry counter and other counters are never found on their seats. The enquiry counters as well as other important counters of Jammu Tawi Railway Station are just symbolic counters as there is hardly any person sitting there. The administration has just placed a board at the counter displaying names of trains, their scheduled time and platform number. "There is no one at the enquiry counter. I had to enquire about a train to Delhi. They have written names of some trains here but how do we know the route of the train it is hard to find," said another passenger. A shopkeeper at the platform said, "The railways staff hardly sit on their seats and usually people ask us about their train timings and other things". He said even when they sit on their seats; they talk to passengers very rudely. |
