Jammu, Feb 1: In ten months of power, performance of BJP as the ally in government has remained awful on most of the fronts, managing transfers and postings of Police Officers in Jammu province abysmal with just two transfers of SP level officers, not to speak of changes at the higher level in the hierarchy.
This is what BJP can count as the only 'achievement' while reviewing its performance while it shared power with PDP.
Sources said while PDP effected and ensured transfers of senior police officers who matter in the entire Kashmir region during cabinet meetings, something which resulted in grip and control over the functioning of the Police at district headquarters, BJP did little or nothing all these months.
All that it has done during the 10 months of power is ensuring transfer and posting of only two officers. Sources said in what clearly reflects the incapacity or incapability of the BJP in effecting the transfers in the Police Department in entire Jammu region is the fact no changes have nor nay fresh postings were made in any district during the period the PDP-BJP alliance government was in place, the onus largely having been on BJP which wields control over most of the constituencies in Jammu. Neither did any senior BJP leader in capacity of ministers deem it proper nor could others muster courage or envisage or visualize the necessity of transferring senior and professionally competent police officers on certain key postings that would have ensure grip over the functioning of the department in a desired manner, said the sources.
Sources said that many Police officers have not been shifted or transferred for three years, in some cases more than this, the actual tenure being far less than what they have served. Pertinently, most of them have seen transfers or postings in Jammu region during the previous coalition regime of NC-Congress, said the sources, adding that a few of them shifted ahead of Assembly elections in 2014 and a couple of them send to other places when Governor's rule was in place before PDP-BJP government came into existence last year. |
