Another hemophilic patient dies, courtesy alleged negligence of H&ME Deptt 2/3/2016 12:02:41 AM Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 2 : A 12 years old patient suffering with this life-long genetic bleeding disorder Hemophilic died at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital Srinagar on Monday allegedly due to criminal negligence of Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department of State which failed to provide anti-hemophilia factors for last more than six months. However, the Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department of State acts as mute spectator towards the life of those patients who are suffering life-long and deadly disease and they are moving pillar to post for the treatment. Pertinent to mention here that due to non-availability of drugs in the hospitals of the state, last year two patients have died and the condition of others patients was worsening day by day and as a result, they may slip into comma. The patient can even die painful death if the drug is not made available immediately, according to doctors. Sources at the hospital told Early times that, a 12 years patient, Inam ul Bhat resident of Chrsoo Tral district Pulwama who was undergoing treatment at SMHS hospital died yesterday as he failed to get urgently needed anti-hemophilia factor. Numbers of time, the concerned as well as patients reminded to officials of H&ME department about unavailability of these factors but the department remain mute spectator on the issue, put life of patients at risk. Moreover, the patients are still yearning for factor owing to merciless approach of the H&ME department and showed thumbs to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court's directions by not procuring needed factors. They are forced to die as costly factors have not been made available to the needy patient especially those who couldn't buy these expensive factors and patients are dying slowly. Sources alleged that the officials of H&ME department gave step motherly treatment to the patients and hundreds of patients are suffering from Haemophilia, having been left on God’s mercy due to callous attitude of the department and non-availability of the factors in the Government hospitals in the state. When contacted Medical Superintendent of SMGS hospital Dr. Dara Singh said that few factors available in the hospital and Secretary of H&ME department assured that the factors would be available as soon as possible.
