Shortage in ration supply triggers road blockage | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Feb 6: Shortage in ration supply under Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) depot for the last 2 months today triggered a protest demonstration against CAPD department and blockage of Link road connecting Shaheedi Chowk with Bhagat Singh Chowk. People hailing from ward no 5, 6 and 7 after assembling started to shout slogans against CAPD department and blocked link road alleging that CAPD for not providing ration supply for the last 2 months that has adversely affected the people who were completely dependent upon ration being supplied by the CAPD department. While interacting to media, Suman Kalotra, a housewife, said that her family like neighbors had been affected for last 2 months as ration supply especially flour was not being provided that triggered rage among people. The protesters condemned the rude attitude of supplier and sought his transfer with immediate effect. Bishan Dass, a middle aged, said people approach depot and spend huge time in long queues with the hope to get ration but return back with empty hands every day. He said CAPD must realize the sufferings of middle class and down trodden section of the society and provide the ration on regular basis. He warned that if CAPD supply did not restore within days, the protesters would block national highway to raise their voice against negligent attitude of the department. Sensing trouble, Tehsildar Kathua SHO Kathua rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters with assurance to restore ration supply within hours. |
