Mehbooba's reluctance exhausting impatient BJP...? | BJP opens channels of communication with NC yet again..... | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 6: With PDP President Mehbooba Mufti unwilling to budge on her stand on government formation, BJP is learnt to have opened up channels of communication afresh with another regional party National Conference to explore possibility of forging alliance along with the support of some independents. This move is albeit being pushed at certain quarters in the NC, despite reluctance of party President Omar Abdullah. True to the maxim of nothing can be ruled out in the politics, fresh attempts are being tried out by BJP which is keen on government formation in the state, said the sources, contending that some leaders are in touch with the National Conference leaders exploring possibilities of alliance with the party. Sources said while it is clear and explicit from his assertions earlier on many counts that Omar Abdullah is not willing to take the burden and risk of tying up with BJP, all others in the party including the old guard in second line leaders have indicated the leadership should not desist from accepting any such offer from the BJP, said the sources. There are 15 MLAs in the NC and all of them for apparent reasons want this offer get materialized said the party sources, adding that besides them those not in the 'game' are also not opposing the idea of forming government with support of some independents. Sources said while RSS lobby is also actively considering the idea of roping in BJP if PDP doesn't move forward from its stand of resistance and there are valid reasons why BJP wants to configure its combination and equation with either of the political party. BJP is too well aware of the situation of its party in terms of its lost ground in Jammu which has helped bag as many as 25 seats in the 2014 Assembly elections. That was the historic feat which enabled it to form government for the first time. But the scene is far from being advantageous for BJP at present. As such BJP would not support the alternative of holding mid term polls in the state that is why it would go in for other political equations instead of waiting for PDP for an uncertain and unknown period of time, sources further said. Sources further said BJP was earlier also in touch with NC and had through credible quarters extended this offer to NC when in the midst of suspense over the PDP-BJP alliance, no less than the patron of the party, Farooq Abdullah expressed his wiliness to form government with the saffron party on January 16. At that time Farooq Abdullah had minced no words in saying that if such a proposal comes from BJP then we will call our working committee meeting to discuss the matter. "If such a situation arises, NC can think over it. …..Our doors are open, " Farooq stated it openly. |
