| VO initiates inquiry into alleged embezzlement of funds by then JLNM Hospital supdtt | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 6: The Vigilance Organization has registered a preliminary inquiry into the alleged embezzlement and misuse of government funds by then medical superintendent of Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital (JLNM) at Rainawari here.
Earlier this month, the state vigilance commission (SVC) had directed VO to register a preliminary enquiry. A top VO officer preliminary enquiry was registered after thorough verification and checking of all the hospital records.
SVC, while proceeding on a complaint against the JLNM Hospital medical superintendent regarding embezzlement and misuse of government funds, favouritism and other irregularities while making purchases of different medical equipments worth crores, obtained a detailed factual report from the directorate of health services, Kashmir.
"Examination and analysis of the entire record prima-facie established the criminal abuse of official position by Dr Iqbal while making the purchases for the hospital by not inviting tenders, not getting approvals from the competent authority and by going beyond the financial competence delegated to him by the government," sources said. |
