Formation of new State executive: Anti-women, anti-SCs face of BJP exposed | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 7: Announcement of new executive by the newly elected State president of BJP has exposed anti-women and anti-weaker section face of the party. Due share of these two sections is deprived by the "nationalist" party. With much publicity, party leadership had announced a couple of months ago that BJP was the first party which had ensured 33 percent representation to women but the reality is different on ground. Due representation is not given to the women despite the fact that it was all due to women voters that BJP had won 25 Assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats in Jammu region. All the four general secretaries appointed by the party are male. Not even a single woman was made general secretary. Party claims to reserve 33 percent seats for women but none of them was appointed as general secretary. Similarly, adequate representation was not given to women in the list of vice presidents, secretaries and members of the executive committee. As far as weaker sections, especially Scheduled Castes (SCs) are concerned party has not given them due representation. Some SC members have given some posts but all these posts are irrelevant in the organisation. Like women, SCs were the section of society which had voted over-whelmingly in support of BJP but party has not done justice with this community. It was all due to the support of SCs that BJP had won all the Assembly seats reserved for SCs in Jammu region but party leadership has not given share to SCs adequately. Despite winning all the seats reserved for SCs, BJP had earlier surrendered the post of Vice Chairman of Scheduled Castes Advisory Board to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite the fact that some SC MLAs of the party were well suited for these posts. Similarly other weaker sections are also ignored by the party leadership. |
