| Candle march organised to pay tributes to Rohith Vemula | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 8: Various Social Organizations took a candle light march to pay tributes to Rohith Vemula, a Dalit research scholar of the University of Hyderabad (UoH), committed suicide after being expelled the campus, and demanded action against the culprits.
The candle march was started from Hari Singh park and culminated at Ambedkar Chowk on Monday evening. Hundreds people from different organizations participated in the march. Shouting slogan, and expressing anger over the death of the scholar, they demanded action against vice chancellor of the university and HRD minister. Holding placard, the protestors shouted slogan, Rohith Vemula Zinadabad.
The candle march culminated at Ambedkar chowk, where several speakers expressed their views, seeking justice for the victim of dictatorial and biased administration of central university Hyderabad.
They also demanded the investigations (forensic tests) into institutional murder of Rohith should be made public.
They also said that union government should ensure rights for deprived sections of the society guaranteed under constitution of India.
They in one voice demanded strict against the accused who are behind the death of Rohith and he would get justice as soon as possible. They warned such types of incident against deprived communities would not be tolerated in future.
