TFC Chakan-Da-Bagh sans facilities | | | MS NAZKI

Poonch, Feb 8 : The cross-LoC trade from Chakan Da Bagh in Poonch district, which started in 2008, has crossed Rs1100 cr mark upto Jan 2016. The trade for 21 items includes fruits, dry fruits and herbs. Sources saidthe trade would have flourished further provided vital facilities at TFC Chakan Da Bagh would have been made available. Sources said the TFC lacks the facility of full body scanner of loaded trucks. Though small X-ray machines are being used for the purpose,it is time consuming process and has not satisfactory output, the sources added. The weighing machine at the TFC is also defunct since 2012 and an 'approximate weight' is being mentioned an challans, causing loss the state exchequer. There is also no facility of cold storage of delicate items at the TFC, neither there is any big godown which is essential for the protection of items. Sources further said that high mast street Lights were not functional at the TFC adding further to miseries of the traders. Sources said there was dire need to widen the Poonch-Chakan Da Bagh road which is a single lane road to pave the way for the smooth plying of vehicles which otherwise cause inconvenience to vehicle owners while plying on the road. There are at present 303 traders engaged in the cross-LoC trade while more than 600 traders have also applied for trading of whom 200 have been cleared while credentials were being verified of the rest. When contacted custodian at TFC Chakan Da Bagh, Tanveer Ahmed Khan told Early Times that he has taken up the issues pertaining to the TFC with competent authorities. |
