50 kanals of agricultural land handed over to private mill | | | Arun Kumar ET Report Kathua, Feb 8: Despite repeatedly cries/ Apex Court's direction, Revenue department itself violates all rules & regulation and busy in commercialization of agricultural land in District Kathua. Ironically, Revenue department handed over 50 Kanal agricultural land at Gobindsar to a private Paper Mill namely NICER Paper Mill through SIDCO Kathua. The department did not pay even a single penny to actual landlords. NICER Paper Mill, 11 D Center phases 2nd Gobindsar Kathua forcibly tries to grab 50 kanal agricultural land with the support of YP Abrol, Project Manager SICOP Kathua, who ordered to shot the protesters, the actual landlords that made the situation tense in the area. Project Manager allegedly backs the grabbers and voluntarily involved to disperse members of 40 families living in the areas. Pritam Singh, a farmer by occupation and actual owner of the land, alleged on Patwari Ismail Khan who converted the agricultural land to commercial and sold the same to industrialists. He said the landlords approached to District administration but nothing has been done in favour of landlords even administration back the menace. He said SIDCO officials sale the lands at high rate but show limited rates in papers. Babloo alleged on Revenue and SIDCO officials including Industrialist to manhandling with people and threatened for dare consequences. He said People who are depend upon such part of the land, refuse to sale their agricultural lands but officials forcibly ask them to leave the land which is openly violation of Human & Individual Rights. When approached to YP Abrol Project manager SIDCO, he left the menace on district administration and said administration duly handed over the land to SIDCO in 2007 which was further allotted to industrialists. Avtaar Singh Tehsildhar Kathua, who rushed on the spot with security forces and field staff of revenue department wherein protesters were clashing with NICER mill, refused to say anything on the matter but merely murmured that the protesters can approach to the office of Collector to update the existing position of the land. Tehsildhar was mum about the Supreme Court's direction for commercialization of agricultural land. Both the departments allege on each other but refuse to clarify the commercialization of agricultural lands and forcibly asked landlords to disperse the land without any satisfied land records. The helpless protesters threatened for mass suicide in the area if district administration, security forces, SIDCO officials or Paper mill forcibly depart them from their inherent land. |
