Credible sources in the corridors of power revealed that during the back-channel discussions between PDP and BJP leaders, issues of rampant corruption by former BJP ministers was highlighted by the PDP leadership. PDP leadership, as per reports, has also conveyed to the BJP high-command that one of the reasons for delay in formation of government was attitude of some of the former BJP ministers, who had crossed all limits of corruption and nepotism in their respective departments during their 10 months tenure.
During back channel discussions, PDP leaders told their BJP colleagues that instead of providing good governance to the people during the last 10 months, BJP ministers were more concerned about getting the transfer industry flourished and protecting interests of power brokers and business lobbies. BJP leadership which is involved in back-channel discussions with PDP leadership was bluntly told by the later that formation of government was not going to ameliorate lot of the people unless BJP leaders of J&K changed their style of functioning. Two BJP ministers in the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led government were playing as puppets in the hand of their businessmen mentors. Ministry of another party minister was managed by his PSO.
Credible sources said that late Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was very aware of the fact that most of the BJP ministers in his government were working under the influence of some businessmen and power brokers. This issue was earlier brought before the notice of some central BJP leaders but they too expressed their helplessness to check misdeeds of their party ministers in J&K.
