BJP sets deadline for Govt formation | Mehbooba asked to clear stand before Feb 23 | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 8: The BJP has set a deadline for the PDP for government formation. The party has reportedly told the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti to clear her stand before the parliament session starts from Feb 23. "We have told Mehbooba Mufti to clear her stand before Feb 23, when the parliament session starts. We have given her enough time understanding her sensivities over the demise of her father. But, the state can't be allowed to run through the Governor's rule," said a senior BJP leader. The BJP's deadline comes even as the PDP president has hinted at snapping the ties if the Centre doesn't announce new Confidence-building-measures (CBMs). However, she has not clearly spelt out what does she exactly wants the Centre to announce. "She must tell us clearly what exactly she wants. We are open to it. We are even open to her meeting with the Prime Minister and party president Amit Shah. But she has to decide first, things can't be allowed to be hanging for much longer period," said the BJP leader, However, there has not been any respond to the deadline from the PDP. The sources said the PDP president will discuss the issue with her advisors before taking any decision. "She is also not averse to the government formation,. But something tangible has to be done by the Centre to allow her a space to tackle the challenges. The veiled threats of the deadline will not work on her and she has made it clear earlier also," said a senior PDP leader. The PDP president has made it clear to the BJP leadership that she open to all the options and it's for the BJP and more specifically for the Central government to decide what it wants to do with the alliance. |
