People protest against K-oil shortage; dealer alleges harassment | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 8: Even as people protested against the alleged kerosene oil shortage at Amala in Hiranagar, Kathua, dealer Ranjeeta Sharma alleged that she was being harassed by the locals. She claimed that there was no shortage of kerosene oil as was being alleged by the protesters. Amala sarpanch Jagdish Singh also supported the woman while criticising the protesters. The sarpanch said the woman earlier ran the depot in a rented shop at Amala but had now shifted to her own shop within the jurisdiction of Amala panchayat after getting due approval and permission from the department concerned. The protesters, however, alleged that the depot was now shifted outside Amala panchayat. Ranjeeta said if the protesters had any proof that she was indulging in black-marketing of oil, they should submit it to the department concerned for action against her. She alleged that they were only harassing her and all the details of the kerosene oil quota in her depot were already submitted to the department. "Even as the central government is talking about Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Women Empowerment, in her case, I am being continuously harassed by a few notorious people for their vested interests and the administration is maintaining a silence," she asserted. She also alleged that a family in Kathua district had ownership of more than half a dozen ration and kerosene oil depots which 'flouts SRO 75 of 2010'. |
