Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 25: A local court here today convicted a teacher for raping a student in uptown Srinagar in December 2013. While convicting the rape accused teacher Pervaiz Ahmad Dar s/o Abdul Samad Dar of New Colony Old Barzulla, the 2nd Additional District and Sessions Judge, Sham Lal Lalhal said, "I come to the inescapable conclusion that the prosecution have been able to prove the charge(s) against the accused by leading clear, cogent, reliable, convincing and dependable evidence beyond any shadow of doubt." The court convicted him under RPC sections of 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and said it will pronounce the quantum of punishment after hearing his counsel as well as prosecution on Monday. As per police case, accused Pervaiz was arrested by police soon after brother of the victim filed a complaint with police station Saddar here on 12 December 2013. A case (FIR No. 242/2013) was registered by the police and a charge sheet was presented against Dar under sections 376, 342 and 506 RPC and during the trial court on 20 February last year charged Pervaiz Ahmad Dar who denied allegations but the court found him guilty.
