Azad camp offers to host Rahul visit as Mir complains of non-cooperation
2/25/2016 11:56:46 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, Feb 25: Amidst indications that proposed visit of Rahul Gandhi is likely to be postponed for a few days, factionalism in the State Congress has intensified even as the PCC president GA Mir has initiated an attempt of temporary patch-up with the faction having allegiance to Ghulam Nabi Azad in State Congress.
For the patch up purpose, separate meetings are being held with the prominent members of Azad camp for persuading them to join the mainstream and cooperate for making proposed visit of Rahul Gandhi a grand success. In this connection a meeting was held at the residence of GA Mir where MLC Jugal Kishore, a die hard loyalist and close confident of Ghulam Nabi Azad, was present.
Even as the meeting was organized to discuss arrangements for the proposed visit, sources said that main objective of this get together was to pursue the Azad camp for abandoning their revel activities against the PCC president.
In the meeting, sources said, Mir reiterated his complaint of non-cooperation of the Azad camp to him following which Jugal Kishore retorted that they were not being taken into confidence by the PCC as well as its president while taking decisions. Puncturing Mir's indirect attempt of portraying Azad camp's non-cooperation as virtual revolt against Rahul Gandhi, Jugal Kishore offered that he was ready to host the event at Reasi if the PCC chief had apprehensions over success of the visit, sources added.
As already reported by the Early Times. GA Mir had last week rang up former Deputy Chief Minister and another Azad camp leader Tara Chand complaining him of non-cooperation of the group to PCC in wake of their boycott of the meeting for discussing preparations for the proposed visit . In his reply, Tara Chand had held Mir responsible for the situation and said that they were not taken into confidence while inviting Rahul Gandhi or planning any other event.
Since the date of proposed visit of Rahul Gandhi has not yet been finalized, sources said that hurling of allegations and counter-allegations between the PCC chief and Azad camp are likely to intensify in the forthcoming days.
