Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 25: A high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today disposed off a PIL on noise pollution with liberty to the petitioner to approach the deputy commissioner within two weeks. The PIL highlighted Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) rules, 2000 read with various provisions of Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and sought direction to implement guidelines issued by Supreme Court in the case titled Forum, Prevention of Environmental and Sound Pollution v/s Union of India. The bench, after hearing the two sides, disposed of the PIL with liberty to the petitioner to approach the deputy commissioner within two weeks and if any such representation is received, the DC shall take appropriate action in terms of the judgment of Supreme Court passed in the case of Forum, Prevention of Environment & Sound Pollution v/s Union of India and anr. dated July 18, 2005, restricting use of loudspeakers.
