Thousands of devotees throng Chichi Mata temple during Navratra

SAMBA, Apr 13: Thousands of devotees paid obeisance at the famous Chichi Mata temple during nine days long Navratra festival. The temple has been given a decorated look with flowers and lights for nine-day-long festivities dedicated to incarnations of Goddess Durga. Devotees waiting for their turn to pay obeisance amid " Jaikaras." Thousands of devotees from all walks of life, early morning visited Chichi Mata temple located at Basantar River in Samba district to offer prayers and seek the blessings of an idol. The district administration and local volunteers had a tough time managing the heavy rush. Long queues of the devotees could be witnessed since early morning right from the main entrance till the temple. The Chichi Mata temple is one of the places of worship consecrated to the goddess Sati. According to legend, it is at the site of this temple that the smallest finger of the goddess Sati landed when her corpse was destroyed by Lord Vishnu to calm the destructive rage of her husband.
Today is the Sixth day of 'Navratri', so I have come here along with my family to pay obeisance to Godess Chichi Devi to offer prayers due to heavy rush of the devotes,but it is taking too much time.

We have full faith in her and we believe that all our prayers offered during the period would be answered Said," Bharti Mehra, a devotee. Traffic Police also deployed in Chichi Mata Temple for proper and smooth movement of the vehicles.
