Separatists race for hartal call, face public fury | #Shame, #Hurriyat and ShameHurriyat: Netizens | | Early Times Report srinagar, Apr 13: Even as the separatists continued to race for giving strike call against killing of two more civilians in north Kashmir on Wednesday, they had to face public fury online. As the toll of civilian killings in Handwara town in the last two days reached four, the separatists gave strike call for another day. But the people remained witty enough to ridicule at the pro-freedom camps. Giving vent to their feelings on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, the people took dig at the separatist leaders saying they had been minting fortunes out of civilian killings while some of them created tags like #Shame, #Hurriyat and Shame Hurriyat. "Do you know what is this? This is our blood Our Kashmir's blank cheque, which you cash every time by filling #shutdown amount on it," posted Khan Hadiqa on her Facebook wall. The netizens said it was only because of the misadventures of the Hurriyat that Kashmir got dragged to turmoil. "I want to know why only the children of common people get killed whereas the children of Hurriyat leaders enjoy a princely life away from Kashmir," said Iqbal Ahmed. A twitter handler accused the separatists of being beneficiary of the Kashmir conflict. "Our children die in firings and they cash seats for their nears and dears in professional colleges," commented a girl. As the online fury was on, senior separatist leader and Chairman of Hurriyat M came out with a statement that people should hold protests on Friday. Many questioned why Mirwaiz wants the protests be specifically held on Friday. "If Hartal has been announced for tomorrow, why the protests for the day after tomorrow? This is ridiculous!" said Tabish Ahmed. Two civilians were killed in Handwara on Wednesday following protests against alleged molestation of a girl. But the girl in a video has refuted the charges that any Army tried to molest her. While the Government has called for a time-bound probe, the Handwara locals said police was largely responsible for the killings. |
