Rajouri, April 13: Grand celebrations were organsied by the Army in collaboration with Civil Administration at Gujjarmandi Chowk and at Army's Advance Landing Ground (ALG) today to celebrate the Rajouri Day. In the month of November, 1947 when the inhabitants of Rajouri town were preparing to celebrate Deewali festival, Pakistani intruders supported by Pakistan army regulars entered the town and started committing brutalities and thousands of innocent men, women and children were killed while fighting with the treacherous intruders till April 13, 1948 when the Indian army entered the town and liberated it and people from their clutches. Three days celebrations were commenced with inauguration of Ex-Servicemen Assistance Centre at ALG on April 11 by Major General D.A Chaturvedi, SM, GOC Ace of Spades Division. On the same day, a photo exhibition, weapon exhibition, health awareness camp, dental, eye and artificial limb camp were also inaugurated. |
