Exemplifying composite culture Muslims organise Dangal on Baisakhi

Kishtwar, Apr 13: The annual Baisakhi festival was today celebrated with traditional religious fervor and gaiety across the Kishtwar District but in unique example the Muslim brethren organized a Dangal (Indian style wrestling) to join the festivity to mark the harmony and brotherhood in the region.
As per the details available with "Early Times" large number of people throng to various temples in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas and offered special prayers for their own success as well as for the peace and prosperity in the state and Kishtwar District in particular. Huge rush of people was also witnessed at Bhanderkot Sangam on the bank of river Chenab where people offered prayers and take holy bath in river.
Meanwhile exemplifying oneness and harmony some youths of Muslim community under the leadership of President Patwar Association Kishtwar Nasir Ahmed Butt comprises of VLW Tehseen Waza, Excise Range Inspector Towsif Mustafa Wani, REZ Raiz Butt and some other enthusiasts today organised a "Dangal" at historic Chowghan Ground Kishtwar to mark festivity. Large number wrestlers from across the district participated and entertain the crowed. At the end of the program, prizes were distributed among the winners by the organisers.
The goodwill gesture from the Muslim youths was appreciated by the various representatives of Hindu community who expressed their gratitude towards the organising youths particularly towards Nisar Ahmed Butt.
While talking to "Early Times" President Patwar Association Kishtwar Nisar Ahmed Butt said, "Kishtwar which hoses various shrines and temples apparently has a history of strong bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood where people from both communities preferred to live together in coexistence, peace and communal harmony despite some odds."
He said, "He and his friends only tried to follow the centuries old tradition by organising towards Dangal program and celebrated this occasion. He said that by organising towards program, they feel not only satisfied as it sends the massage of communal harmony and brotherhood but also will prove a step towards strengthening peace and harmony. He said that similar programs will also be organised in future as well. Meanwhile keeping in view of heavy rush of people in temples and various water points including local rivulets, the district administration has made elaborated security arrangements at key locations to thwart any untoward incident.
