'Jhanda Sahib Shrine' hub of communal harmony facing govt apathy

Poonch, Apr 13: Centuries old famous revered shrine in Mendhar a symbol of communal harmony -the seat (Gaddi) of Baba Bhiram Shah Ji Maharaj popularly known as 'jhanda Sahib Shrine' is facing wrath of the government apathy.
"The revered shrine has been the victim of Government apathy for past years," the sources said here today adding, "the shrine situated in the contentment area of town is believed to be a very sacred to locals irrespective to caste and religion."
As per locals' who hold great faith in shrine, legends say that anyone who prays here with devotions get his/her desire fulfilled with in no time.
The locals said that this centuries old shrine where Baba Bhiram Shah Ji Maharaj used to sit and deliver his religious sermons and had installed his seat (Gaddi) witnesses huge rush of devotees from all walks of society but the government apparently has failed to maintain it to develop to attract more devotees. A large number of devotees throng to shrine on Baisakhi festival to seek blessings of their deity. The ceremony starts with flag hoisting on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi here to remember Bhiram and this shrine is popularly known as Jhanda Sahib Shrine.
People from different religious and faiths offer a specials prayer for peace and communal harmony on the occasion.
Various programmes including Bhajan & Kirtan are being held besides a bhandara also is organized for the devotees of which Prasad is distributed among them. The arrangements are being supervised by incharge of the temple Guru Anil Dutta Ji.
"Presently the shrine is being looked after by the army but if this shrine will be properly maintained by the civil administration it will become a famous tourist destination," said local chairman of the temple committee Rahi Kapoor while interacting with Early Times.
He however added that due to Army's contribution little bit is being done for the development of this shrine but if state government takes care of this sacred shrine it will turn a famous tourism detonation as it nestles in a beautiful serene ambiance.
