Four bovine smuggling bids foiled, 20 animals rescued, two held

SAMBA, Apr 19: In its continuous drive against bovine smuggling, Samba police foiled four bovine smuggling bids with the arrest of two bovine smugglers person besides rescuing of 20 animals being smuggled across the Samba district. Meanwhile a manhunt is on to nab the absconding smugglers. According to the police spokesperson, Police Party headed by Inspector Sanjeev Chib, SHO P/S Samba under the supervision of Varinder Singh, DySP HQ Samba, foiled a bovine smuggling bid by intercepting a Truck bearing regd no: JK02S/9755, coming from Kathua and carrying 13 bovine animals which were being transported without permission.
"Accordingly, the occupant of vehicle Farooq Ahmed Dar s/o Gh Hassan Dar r/o Bypass Batote District Ramban was arrested on the spot and bovine animals were rescued, police said. He said that a case under FIR No: 61/2016 u/s 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Samba.
Yet in another incident, Police Party headed by Inspector Yashpal Jamwal, SHO P/S Bari-Brahmna under the supervision of Kulbir Handa, SDPO Bari-Brahmna, foiled a bovine smuggling bid by intercepting TATA Mobile vehicle bearing regd no JK02AK/6988, coming from Kathua and carrying a total of 03 animals being illegally transported. "However on seeing the Police Naka laid at Bari-Brahmna, the driver of the said vehicle fled away under the cover of darkness, leaving the vehicle on spot much before the Police Naka, police said. Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 43/2016 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered at P/S Bari-Brahmna and investigation carried on. Efforts are being made to nab the absconding accused driver, police added.
Similar Police Team of Police Station Bari-Brahmna foiled another bovine smuggling bid carrying 04 bovine animals by foot without permission but on seeing the Police party, the accused persons fled away under the cover of darkness. A Case under FIR No. 42/2016 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered at P/S Bari-Brahmna and investigation started.
In another incident Police Team of Police Station Ghagwal headed by Inspector Suraj Pathania, SHO Ghagwal arrested one Arshad s/o Fareed r/o Mantalai Teshi Chenani District Udhampur after police intercepted a truck without regd no carrying 09 bovine animals without permission. A case under FIR No. 33/2016 u/s 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered at P/S Ghagwal.
