'Violence in Kashmir fall-out of a conspiracy' | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 19: A senior BJP leader appeared right when he described violence in Handwara and Kupwara and other places in Kashmir, including parts of Srinagar district as the fall-out of a conspiracy hatched. "There was a conspiracy behind the recent spurt of violence in the Kashmir Valley. Definitely there is a conspiracy to disturb peace in areas like Kupwara and Handwara. These areas remained peaceful when there was turmoil in other parts (of the Valley)," he said on Monday. The question to be asked is: Who hatched conspiracy to provoke violence in Kashmir? Certainly not the poor school-going girl. Handwara girl, whose mother had alleged that army personnel molested her daughter, appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate on Saturday evening and denied this allegation. The people who molested were locals and not soldiers, said the girl in her deposition. She was accompanied by her father when the minor girl recorded her statement. After the incident came to light, widespread protests against the army had erupted in parts of Kashmir which led to violence and death of five people. All this shows that the poor girl didn't conspire. In fact, she identified and exposed those who molested. Obviously, army also didn't hatch the conspiracy to provoke secessionists and their radicalized supporters to attack their camp and hurl stones on the soldiers. Army doesn't function like this. Army only acts when the situation gets out of control and that too when the political establishment asks it to control the situation. The fact of the matter is that the Pakistan-backed subversives attacked the army camp willfully to create a situation that they would use to bring bad name to the army. Who, then, hatched the conspiracy? Obviously, anti-national elements, including two Kashmiri young men who molested the Handwara girl. It was they who succeeded in creating a rumour which ultimately led to the violence. The point is that the local police know who hatched the conspiracy to malign the army and put pressure on the authorities to withdraw our soldiers from the areas so that the anti-nationals establish their stranglehold over these areas and then move beyond. Everything, it seems, was pre-planned. Now that the poor girl has identified the anti-national, it is time to arrest them and brought to justice. What is needed the most is action on the ground and not vague, meaningless and misleading statements |
